About the Candidate

Meet Tregenza

Lieutenant Governor Tregenza A. Roach, Esq. has built a life of service rooted in faith, family, education, and a deep love for the people of the Virgin Islands.

Born in St. Kitts, Tregenza moved to St. Thomas at the age of eight to join his parents, Victor and Iona Roach, who had made the Virgin Islands their home. He grew up in the St. Thomas community, attended local schools, and graduated from Charlotte Amalie High School. His life reflects the story of many Virgin Islanders: a family seeking opportunity, a child shaped by community, and a public servant committed to giving back.

Tregenza attended the College of the Virgin Islands as a Holstein-Lewis scholar before earning a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He began his career as a reporter and later News Editor at The Virgin Islands Daily News, where he developed a lasting respect for truth, accountability, and informed citizenship.

He later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law and became a member of the Virgin Islands Bar in 1991.

Serving with Purpose

Tregenza has served the Virgin Islands across education, law, government, and civic life. He worked as Legal Counsel to the Commissioner of Education, Executive Director of the Board of Education, faculty member at the University of the Virgin Islands, and senator in the 30th, 31st, and 32nd Legislatures.

As a senator, he championed education, young people, seniors, the environment, and citizenship rights for Virgin Islanders. One of his most meaningful legislative contributions was introducing the law that created tuition-free higher education at the University of the Virgin Islands.

Since 2019, Roach has served as Lieutenant Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

For Tregenza Roach, leadership is not about titles. It is about service, accountability, and building a stronger, fairer Virgin Islands for all.

I came to St. Thomas as an eight-year-old boy from St. Kitts. My parents came here to build something better. And this island gave us a home.

This island didn't just raise me. It shaped my conviction.
